Lycidas (spider)
For the poem by John Milton, see
Lycidas.
Lycidas is a spider genus of the Salticidae family (jumping spiders). Almost all species are endemic to Australia, with a single species (L. furvus) found in China.
Females are from three to seven millimeters long, males from three to five. Since all other species are from Australia, there is some doubt if L. furvus from China really belongs to this genus.[1]
The Australian species of genus Saitis possibly should be grouped in this genus (Hill 2009).
